Support » Fixing WordPress » Permalinks no longer work

  • Our web site @ was recently taken down by our host (dreamhost) because one of our articles got on StumbleUpon and apparently crashed the server we were on. We’ve had a lot of problems with causing a high server load with our version of WordPress, but upgrading at this point isn’t an option.

Sorry, I’m starting to get off topic. When the site was brought back, none of the permalinks or images stored within WordPress worked. When I login to the Dashboard, all posts and uploads are still there, but they don’t work on the web site. I’ve tried changing and re-changing the permalink structure, but nothing is working.

  • Has anyone else had this problem as well?

Try to avoid bumping a post so soon — you removed it from the “No Replies” list that a lot of volunteers start with.

Which troubleshooting tips have you tried from the Permalinks page?

Have you confirmed that .htaccess is getting created/updated after you try modifying your Permalink settings?

If you set Permalinks to Default, do links work as expected?

Thanks! My host messed with the .htaccess file, but I’ve fixed it. Also, thanks for the tip on using the forums.
