# Permalinks – index.php

 * So, i recently moved to a VPS from my old host. But now, my links have /index.
   php/contact, /index.php/archives etc.
 * They used to be just /contact, /archives etc.
 * Any idea what the problem is and how it can be fixed? thank you.

   code in it ?

 * if you want to use permalink, you need to create a .htaccess file in your root
   folder and assign 755 or 777 permissions to this file.

 * is permalinks the problem I have?
 * “Hello. I am having a few problems with navigation on my site, I’ve had it up
   a while but only just noticed the problem. Once on a page I can’t seem to press
   the “back” button, also if you click ‘videos’ then click ‘page 2’ the link doesn’t
   work unless you edit the URL.
 * Can someone please tell me where I’m going wrong?
