    Hi,

I’m using a hosting with DirectAdmin management. WordPress is installed, running and working perfectly. Now I want to tweak some settings and have the articles organised in a YEAR/MONTH/DAY/POSTID directory structure, but WordPress is preventing to write the new settings to the .htaccess file. I’ve checked, and double checked all the CHMOD settings and everything is as it should be, but WordPress cant write the changes.

Any ideas how to fix this?

    Cheers,
    Paul

  • What are the permissions and owner on your .htaccess (the one in the same directory of WP)?

What sort of error do you receive?

Have you looked over the troubleshooting sections at http://codex.wordpress.org/PermaLinks ?

Permissions are set to 755, I tried 777 for some files and seems to work for a couple of files but not all.

The error I get is that there is no ‘Update’ button on the admin pages of WordPress under ‘Presentation’ > ‘Edit Theme’. It keeps reporting back that WordPress cant modify files even with 755 and higher attrib settings.

I’ve browsed around the Support pages and found combinations of my problem, hence the fact I opened a new topic to combine it into 1 topic.

    Cheers!
