permalinks are broken

i restored WP from a backup on localhost. The pages are available on the dashboard but when i click on preview the page does not exist.

For example, in the dashboard under the URL:

http://localhost:8001/wp-admin/post.php?post=317&action=edit

the preview directs to

http://localhost:8001/about/?preview=true

with an “The requested URL was not found on this server.” error.

I think that this might be related to permalink configurations?

Update: i changed permalink settings to plain and now the links are working.
