I’ve searched and not come up with anything helpful.

    The issue:
I am moving a large static html site (several thousand pages) of stories to WP. I have 6 categories of stories. Story submissions are also in directories by year.

I wish to use a permalink structure like this:

My stories go back to 2000 and continue yearly after that. How can I get them to show the years previous to 2012? I am using /%category%/%year%/%postname%/
but of course that only shows the current year.

    Is this possible or not?

  • you have to change the “publish” date on the posts. If you’ve already moved them to the WordPress site, you can either go through them one at a time and change the published date, or you can do an SQL export and go through the file and change the dates, then re-import.

Thank you so much. I just tested it and it works!

Shelly, one more thing, for the SQL export, (husband needs to know) export the wp_posts table?

Yes, you export the wp_posts. If you have any comments, you *might* want to change those dates, too (but you may not have to. I’d check first!)
