Permalinks and child pages

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I was wondering whether somebody could help me out with the permalinks used to display child pages.

My permalinks are currently set to display as the following:
    /%category%/%postname%.html

That’s working fine, but I’ve just started to add some new content and set it as part of a parent category. When this new content is displayed, the URL is usually shown in the format above but with a /12 (for example) after it.

Ideally, I’d like the title of the new content to be included in the URL in much the same way as %postname% does for those categories without child content.

Can anyone let me know how I need to change my permalink format?

I hope that makes sense – please feel free to let me know if it doesn’t!
