Permalink to Display as Title

  • My website is Here.

    What I want for SEO purposes is for my title to become the permalink. E.g. http://www.mysite.com/welcome-to-my-site.html etc.

    I have entered the permalink option to be /%category%/%postname%/ but despite the title being ok when I click on the permalink it says “page cannot be found”.

    I tried adding .html after but it does not work. Someone I work for said I might have to change the htaccess file, but ain’t got a clue what to do! Any help massively appreciated so I can get rid of the ?postid=3052 forever!!

    Cheers
    Mal

  • hi,

    Set your desired permalink and add this code in htaccess:

    # BEGIN WordPress

    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    ErrorDocument 404 /index.php?error=404
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    Thanks,

    Shane G.
