# Permalink structure for static pages?

 * I am new to WordPress and still learning. I am not a programmer so i would expect
   simple solution for this. I visited some forum posts here and can not gasp much.
   I also visited wordpress codex but i think that is all about posts.
 * I got [this post](http://wordpress.org/support/topic/pretty-permalinks-for-static-pages?replies=4)
   but I am not sure about this.
 * So how do i get permalink structure like this:
 * [http://www.mysite.com/pages/subpages](http://www.mysite.com/pages/subpages)
 * I mean what code do i have to out in custom structure field.

 * If you already set up “pretty” permalinks, you’re most of the way there. You 
   don’t have to code anything extra. Just make organize the pages into parent and
   child pages as described in this article:

 * Yeah i have organised my pages already. So what do i fill in permalink structure
   when it shows ugly permalink like
 * website.com/page id-156
 * how should i change it to more structured format. Should i leave it to default
   setting???

 * Set it to anything other than the default. I personally tend to use “Day and 
   name,” “Month and name,” or “Post name,” depending on the site.
