 * I put in /%postname%/ as a permalink structure on all of my wp blogs and then
copied the rewrite rules that were generated into my htaccess file as directed.
 * I’ve found that if someone tries to go to a nonexistent page on my server, e.
   g., [http://www.mydomain.com/nopage.htm](http://www.mydomain.com/nopage.htm)
instead of getting page cannot be displayed, the first wp blog whose rewrite
rules are in htaccess is displayed but with no posts.
 * I asked my host and they said this is being caused by the wp permalink structure
rewrite rules in htaccess … but if I take out the rewrite rules then I won’t
   have the permalink structure.
 * Any advice what to do?

 * It’s because it sends `nopage.htm` to WordPress looking for a post with the stub“
nopage.htm”. This is why it’s best to have a permalink structure with a static
   beginning such as `/archives/%postname%/`. 😉

 * Ok /archives/%postname%/ solved the first problem, now I see I have other problems
that may be related. When I click on an Archive month link it goes to [http://mydomain.com/wpname/archives/2005/07/](http://mydomain.com/wpname/archives/2005/07/)
and I get page cannot be displayed error … I look at my wp installation and there
is no archives, etc. folders! I have the same problem with categories … when
I click on a category link … it goes to [http://mydomain.com/wpname/archives/category/categoryname/](http://mydomain.com/wpname/archives/category/categoryname/)
but I don’t have the archives, category folders. I am installing 1.5.1.3 wp blogs
using Fantastico. Why doesn’t the install set up the archives, category, year,
   month, etc. subdirectories?

 * I’ve been told that WP using a SQL database so you will not see the individual
   folders in your site.
