 * Hi,
    I just discovered this Permalink thing in Settings.
 * Is the idea that Google will find our pages better and quicker if we edit our
   Permalinks to not be in the WordPress structure?
 * It does seem as if Google doesn’t find my WordPress site as easily as it found
   my Yahoo site…

 * In a nutshell, yes.
 * _?p=123_ is not very semantic and is poor for search
 * _my-first-post_ (the slug created from the site title) is. If you change the 
   url structure make sure to resubmit a sitemap to the search engines, then wait
   for results…
