Title: Permalink Problem Last modified: November 20, 2017 --- # Permalink Problem * [steveeller](https://wordpress.org/support/users/steveeller/) * (@steveeller) * [8 years, 4 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/permalink-problem-100/) * I have my site permalink setup as [http://domain.com/post-name](http://domain.com/post-name) and my custom post type (blog-post) options set to “rewrite” unchecked and “Allow permalinks to be prepended with front base” and it keeps writing the url for my custom post type as [http://domain.com/?blog-post=post_name](http://domain.com/?blog-post=post_name). I want it to write as [http://domain.com/post_name](http://domain.com/post_name) like the rest of my site. A classic Custom Post Permalink will look like this:` site.com/custom-post-type-slug/post-slug/` * For that, you do not need to change any settings at all in Toolset > Post Types. And I’m not sure how you think that `site.com/custom- post-type-slug/post-slug/` is the classic custom post permalink. * The classic permalink is the site /post-slug! `site.com/post-slug/` * Just like millions of websites have it! Just like wordpress is set to do BY DEFAULT! * This types plugin is FORCING me to use what you want it to use or I get a 404 error. `site.com/custom-post-type-slug/post-slug/` * Also if I untick “publicly_queryable” not only does the page error to 404 if I type it in, I dont even get a clickable link in the editor or overview page! Please dont ask about other plugins, I have none.
