Permalink issue I can’t figure out

    Here’s the details

    404 error
    Permalinks set up as category/postname
    Only happens in one category
    Only happens from “outside” admin

    Description:

    When I click on or type in the full URL in a browser window I get a 404 error. When I’m in Admin edit mode and click on view, the post is resolved fine. And, it only happens for one category (the default I renamed from “uncategorized”). All other categories I added are fine.

    I’ve tried deactivating all plugins except those that are absolutely required. Nothing seems to change. Yesterday I upgraded to 2.9.2 hoping for a resolution, but it’s still broke.

    How can I possibly debug this?

    Unless you provide a link to a page demonstrating the problem, no one will be able to offer much in the way of specific help.

    Hmmm – for me to provide a link to a page that produces the 404 error (which, of course, nobody has ever seen :)), I would also have to provide a link (logon) to my admin that the symptoms could be verified. Hmmm, I think I’ve been the victim of a canned response.

    No – I’m quite real and I do type (albeit often the same thing again and again and again…).

    If the issues appears on a specific category outside of your admin areas, why can’t you provide a link to that category? If you can’t, any suggestion would be pure guesswork and, as such, of very little use.
