permalink don't work

    If I go to Settings – Permalinks and I select, for example “post name”, links and pages don’t work (appears the horrible 404).
    I don’t understand why I can change the ugly links (numbers).
    I’m really newbie in all of this (I only know about SEO, contents and marketing, I don’t know nothing about codes, servers…)

    I appreciate help for dummies like me. I’m trying to solve the problems by myself but sometimes I can’t.
