 * Hello,
 * My custom permalink structure is /%year/%monthnum%/%postname%.html. When I write“
   site:mydomainname.com” in the Google toolbar, i see lots of links to my post
   pages with a different permalink structure than the one set in wp. I don’t understand
   why. It’s even as bad as Google Webmaster tool is showing me 13 404 errors to
   post pages. but when i check these pages, they show up perfectly on Google.
 * Since I am working on SEO, I would like to know if this custom structure above
   is good for SEO.
 * I want to add your attention that I migrated my blog from blogger to wordpress
   and in case i change my permalink structure, I will have to do a redirect page
   per page from blogger to wp.
 * I am waiting for your help. Thank you in advance. Oh! by the way, i am not that
   much geek so please, if there are technical tasks to perform, please give detailed
   explanations.
 * Cheers,
 * Emmanuelle

 * Check the permalinks with the default theme active. Maybe the theme you have
   active is using hard coded links.
 * Also it depends on your site for what is the best SEO permalink structure.
 * /%year/%monthnum%/%postname%.html can be good if you anticipate people searching
   for your keywords and adding a year or month to the search term. Some searchers
   do this to find the most recent articles. This is really only effective for news,
   coupons, or stuff that frequently changes.
 * But most likely you just need /%postname%.html or /%postname%/ will work just
   fine.

 * Hello WP Bum,
 * Thanks for your quick answer. Are you telling me to check the default value in
   the permalink menu? I don’t want to: first, because most of my posts are imported
   from blogger and i want to keep the same parmalink structure i had in blogger(
   otherwise it might create a problem with the 3013 redirect, no?); second, i like
   that structure. For my blog topic, I think it’s important to see the year and
   the month before the name of the post.
 * What i don’t understand is that wp creates permalinks structure of its own, e.
   g. …tag/name tag, or confusing tags with category when I have no category at
   the moment, or …/uncategorized or …/page/4
    there is no logic.
 * Thanks for your help again.
 * Cheers,
 * Emmanuelle

 * Hello WP Burn,
 * To be more precise, if in the google toolbar, you put site:barcelonelowcost.com(
   which is my domain name), you will see all the weird urls I am talking about
   above (they are not like it is set in the wp custom permalink). It still takes
   you to the post tho.
 * On the other hand (and i do not know if it is related or not), on Google webmaster,
   it shows some errors for the following urls:
 * [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/comments/feed](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/comments/feed)

   [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/category/agenda-culturel-2012/feed](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/category/agenda-culturel-2012/feed)
   [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/tag/agenda-culturel-2012/www.openhouseworldwide.com](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/tag/agenda-culturel-2012/www.openhouseworldwide.com)
   [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/category/art/feed](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/category/art/feed)
   [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/category/concert](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/category/concert)
   [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/2012/www.openhouseworldwide.com](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/2012/www.openhouseworldwide.com)
   [http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/2012/www.openhouseworldwide.com](http://www.barcelonelowcost.com/2012/www.openhouseworldwide.com)
 * and another few. These urls do not exist!? does it have to do with the sitemap
   or with the permalinks? when I check my posts individually, the permalinks show
   properly.
 * Thanks for your help again.
 * Cheers,
 * Emmanuelle
