Permalink crash

  • Server runs OK, wordpress is up, talking to MySQL… I just downgraded Apache to 1.3x on Windows, in an attempt to solve the “CPU spikes to 100% on every page request” bug. Now my permalinks don’t work, and I can’t regenerate them, because trying to go to that page in the admin control panel crashes apache.exe. I tried clearing the option in the wp_options table, I have verified that mod_rewrite is enabled, and AllowOverride is on / and the htdocs directory that wordpress is a subfolder of.

    Apache 1.3.34
    PHP 5
    Wordpress 2.02
    MySQL 5
    Windows XP

  • I’ve got the same problem – anyone recognize the symptoms?

    Apache 1.3.33
    PHP 5.0.4
    Wordpress 2.02
    MySQL 4.1
    Windows XP

it’s a known apache 1.3.x bug on windows. hack your wp-admin/admin-functions.php file, function got_mod_rewrite should just return true if you are CERTAIN you have mod_rewrite on an apache server.

    -d

Thanks! That forced apache into line…
