Permalink confused by pre-existing directory… now it's broken?

  • Hey guys,

I’ve been working on a site in the /wordpress directory, and just switched it to the root folder in order to go live. I’m using pretty permalinks and had forgotten that the root contained a directory named ‘blog’. When I switched my install to the root, any links to the blog page of my wordpress site now went to the ‘blog’ directory. I quickly changed the name of that directory, but now when I follow the links to my /blog page I just get a blank document.

I’ve tried changing the blog page permalink to /the-blog, I’ve renamed the old ‘blog’ directory, I’ve flushed W3 Total Cache several times, and I’ve tried re-creating the blog page. None have any luck.

The one thing that sort-of worked was creating a new blog page, using a different permalink ‘the-blog’ and a different page template (no sidebar). However, as soon as I changed back to the correct page template (with a sidebar), it stopped working again.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

    Mischa.
