# Permalink 404 error

 * I just installed WP & [http://blog.emegano.com/this-is-a-test-2/](http://blog.emegano.com/this-is-a-test-2/)
   URL is not working. I just changed the permalink to: /%postname%/ only and this
   dirty error comes up every where. Except the default one, everything is giving
   me 404 error. I tried with all other tips from WP forums , nothing worked, wordpress.

 * Try resetting your custom permalinks back to the default setting and deleting/
   renaming your WordPress .htaccess file. If this works, then review [Using_Permalinks](http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks)
   before setting a custom permalink structure back up again.

 * Yes, I tried permalinks back to the default setting & it worked fine, but I need
   Custom URL, but this seems to be a NO for me, also i searched for some alternative
   of WP, can U plz share something that have Custom permalinks option.
