Try replacing /uncategorized/ with /archives/ . Also, if it isn’t, the .htaccess file should be in the same directory as the rest of your WordPress files. If that doesn’t work, try adding /index.php/ to the beginning of your permalinks.

Now there is a 500 internal server error. You sure you have uploaded the .htaccess in ASCII mode with proper permissions.

You guys are fast I am following both suggestions. While trying to fix the 404 and I accidentally created the 500. Whew! I’ll get it straight, thanks for your help…

Your suggestions worked! I changed the /uncategorized/ which was /%categories%/” to /archives/ , created the new .htaccess uploaded in ASCII and set the permission to 644.
