Per Category Weekly Digests

    I am using 8.9.1

    Looking at the plugin and the code, it looks like weekly digests are only available for all categories on the site, not on a category-by-category basis.

    Am I missing something, and is this feature in the works?

    I may have to build out this feature for a client over the next few days – I would gladly send you my code if you like.

    @andrew,

    This is not currently possible nor is it in progress as PHP is not able to handle the potential number of emails needed efficiently enough.

    Imagine you have 5 categories and users can select any combination of those categories, that would result in 31 possible emails needing to be produced at each digest.

    Eventually, the poor scalability of the current processing code will result in failures so it’s not something I am progressing.

    However, if you can come up with a scalable and elegant way of doing this I will more than happily review your code and adopt it to the core plugin if it looks like it will work well for the majority of users.
