People Spotlight : advice on finding a starting community

Hi fellow WordPressers!

I had a bit of an idea a few days ago about a funny community-driven blog. Basically, the idea is to let people enter one short blog post and randomly select one entry every day to let it go on the front page.

I think it might be a cool idea for people who want to broadcast their ideas/projects/…, but also for the audience who might be looking for things to discover daily in a new and funny way.

The website is now up and running at http://www.peoplespotlight.com, and I’d like to know what you think of it right now, and what you think it might become.

If you feel like posting something, don’t be afraid!

I am also looking for ideas on how to find a community to build interesting content… Feel free to share your ideas 🙂

What do you mean with “content is not very nice”? If you’re talking about the overall content, the website started two days ago and it is bound to be updated once a day so it’s normal that for now, the content is quite poor… Could you explain a bit more if I misunderstood? 🙂

Good work with your blog,

One of the best things about your blog is that it is up to the point. The first, un-scrolled screen is used very wisely. You have a very good looking logo on the top and then the tag line and the description says it all. Very nicely explained.

It is a good concept but will require some hard work to get people to use it. Your blog is still very new.

It actually is hard work to get people to experiment with it and I think I’ll make a test run for a few weeks, see if it interests anybody.

I think a few people might want to use such a website but I’m not sure how to reach them… I’m still looking for ideas.

About reaching people, if you got an advertisement budget then there is no limit to the amount of people you want to reach.

However, if you are looking to try this for free, your best options will be commenting on related blogs, posting on forums, networking with other bloggers and webmasters on social media, etc.

few weeks won’t give you much results, keep at it for several months and then you will see some results,
