I’m really sorry you’re having issues with this!
It’s possible that something may not have registered properly in your database when you uploaded the PDF file to your Media Library. Would you be able to try downloading the PDF and then re-uploading it to your Media Library to see if that allows optimization to work for it?

I have tried this with a couple PDF’s . One was 4 megs and 1 was 1.2 megs. I’m on the most recent WP and Elementor and Pro.
Would you have an example of a PDF that should work that I can use as a test?

You can search for “Sample PDF files” on Google, for example there are few on this page.
If these are not private files, you can send it to us so we could check on our end, although in most of the cases it works, just to be 100% sure.

Same error with the sample PDF. This media lacks the required metadata and cannot be optimized.
I suppose may be some kind of conflict.
