    Hello,

So I am not sure what is the problem, but I am trying to create a thumbnail for a pdf link I want to use on my website, and everytime I click on it tells me that it can’t load the item.

I am using the PDF Image Generator plugin located here, and I don’t think it is related to it, but I could be wrong. Basically, I click on the thumbnail and it’s supposed to open up the pdf file in a new window (like in the demo page here) but mine doesn’t seem to want to do that.

I have tried Chrome, IE, and Safari and all three don’t seem to open it. I know the file is there, because if you right-click on the image it takes you to the pdf page. I have it set to Dropbox right now, but I have also tried uploading a pdf using the media import of wordpress.

You can find my page here and hopefully someone can help me figure out what I am doing wrong and how to fix this little dilemma, because I really don’t want to use a text link if I can help it.

Thanks in advance for any help and your time!

As that is a function of the plugin which isn’t working for you, I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/pdf-image-generator#postform so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

It might be plugin related, but it also seems to happen when I am trying to use an image as a link without the plugin.

Right now I am trying without the plugin, and I’m doing what most instructions I’ve read on various sites say to do when you want to use an image as a clickable link in wordpress. I upload both an image and the pdf, and display the image on the page and use the url of the pdf as the custom url for the image, and when a user clicks on the image it should redirect them to that custom url (the uploaded pdf). But my problem seems to be when I click on it, it acts as if my image is going to open on the same page instead of opening on a separate tab or page, and looks like the image is going to enlarge to fit the screen but then it tells me that it can’t load.

It’s quite confusing…I don’t think it requires any function to be written because I feel like I would have come across that.

Oh, it sounds like you have a lightbox function, either from a plugin or your theme features, interfering. Let’s find out which first.

Try deactivating all plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, try switching to the Twenty Fifteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue.

I figured it out – it was caused from the Tech Banker’s Lightbox Bank plugin. Luckily I found this post, which basically let me know that I needed to remove the wip-image line from the img class. Now it’s working the way I want it to, so it’s all good! Thanks for your help – I appreciate it!
