• As title said. There are plenty of PDF embed plugins offering the DL possibility, for free.

I am sorry to hear you didn’t find any merit in the plugin without it having a direct download button. We have attempted to make it clear in the plugin description that a download button is not available in the free version, so it is unfortunate that you were inconvenienced by trying it out.

It gives me great pleasure to be able to maintain and support the free version of this plugin, and the option for some users to pay for a premium version means that this continues to be possible.

My advice to anyone who is not in a position to support the plugin financially, but still wants a download button is to add their own download link beneath the embed:

From the shortcode:
[pdf-embedder url=""]

Copy the URL into a link such as this:
Download PDF Here!

If you copy the URL, you can paste it easily using the link button in the visual editor.

Of course, there are many other distinguishing features that set PDF Embedder apart from other viewers, especially the fact that it doesn’t rely on a third party service such as Google, and the way it resizes itself automatically to fit into the page.

Best of luck with the rest of your site!

Your reply actually makes the plugin *more* attractive, and I’d be more likely to support the author if I ever do need the download functionality. Thanks!
