pdf

I want to add a link to pdf files on my site.
hoever if I upload the pdf to the media it takes ages to open.
is there a better way?
the files are about 300kb.
is there a way to make them smaller so they open faster?
one more question – enyone knows a good plugin that turns a post to pdf without adds?
the main idea is that by clicking a button the get instructions they can print.
