 * Hello!
 * I’m trying to link to PDFs that are uploaded to my site’s media library. When
   I link to web pages or non-PDF documents, the link appears correctly. However,
   when I link to a PDF, a small box that says “.pdf” with a small arrow appears
   beside the text. ([Example](https://ibb.co/4Pyvn3v))
 * Any ideas on how to fix this?

 * without inspecting a page of the website which includes a pdf link, it’s hard
   to say the source of the issue or solution. the **.pdf** possibly originates
   from theme, plugin, css or other custom code snippet.
 * try this: install health check plugin which can be used in troubleshooting mode
   to deactivate all plugins and theme  might help narrow down the source of the
   issue  [https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/)
