 * How is the default PCT field calculated and which file?
    Where the Win percentage
   formula is . . . (Wins+(Ties/2))/(Wins+Losses+Ties)
 * Check out this page for the formula

 * That’s an odd formula for MLB as baseball games never end in a tie… I don’t have
   access to the code right now, I’m on the road covering a basketball tournament,
   but I’ll get back to you a bit later. I’ve I’m not mistaken, that calculation
   happens in the proper ‘sport’ file in the sport folder. I’ll pull down some code
   tonight and have a look. Is it baseball you’re working with as a sport?

 * The sport is minor women’s fastpitch (softball). I pulled that formula off a
   forum outlining what I had thought was MLB standings. Check the link…may be its
   not. However, our games can end in a tie.
 * The following is what I believe should happen (so ties would not count):
    Order
   Teams are listed in order of win-percentage from highest-to-lowest. When two
   teams have the same win-percentage, the team with the most wins is listed first.
   In cases where teams have an equal number of wins and losses, the teams are listed
   alphabetically.
 * Win-Percentage
    Win-percentage is games-won divided by total games-played.For
   example, a team with 3 wins and 1 loss has played 4 games altogether, so its
   win-percentage is 3/4, represented as .750
 * Games Behind (GB)
    To figure out GB, we start with the team which has the most
   wins compared to losses (highest: wins minus losses). For example, if that team
   had 10 wins and 2 losses, our “magic number” when calculating GB is 8. We figure
   GB each other team subtracting its wins minus losses from the leader’s magic
   number, then dividing in half. For example, if another team has won 8 games and
   lost 3, its wins-minus-losses is 5. We subtract 5 from our magic number, 8, which
   gives us 3. We then divide 3 in half to realize that this team is 1.5 games behind.
 * Sometimes the first-place team isn’t the leader in games-behind. This can occur
   when the GB leader has played more games than the first-place team. This anomaly
   disappears once all teams have played the same number of games.

 * The baseball ‘sport’ calculates games behind slightly differently, but the results
   are the same. I would propose that we build a sport file for softball since some
   of the rules are a bit different… At worse case, since I don’t have access to
   all my ‘tools’, let me build a softball sport and modify a couple of these things
   and we’ll go from there when I get back over the weekend.

 * Actually, after using the software and tracking for a few games I think the only
   difference is the issue with the ability to have ties. However, not all leagues
   score a tie. So this may be the only difference. We also track bases touched
   for many tournaments in the event of ties in order to rank a winner.
 * I would be happy with the current format if I could remove the column titled
   SO. Is this possible?

 * I’m using LM for a girls softball league as well.
 * When two teams have the same win-percentage, the team with the most wins is listed
   first as it should be. In cases where teams have an equal number of wins and
   losses, the teams should be ranked based on a head-to-head win/loss factor.
 * Alphabetically would almost seem unfair if the team in 2nd place has beat the
   team in first place in a previous game.
 * Our league defines the winner of the league in the following manner:
 * **(1)** Winning Percentage
    **(2)** Winner of head-to-head game(s) **(3)** Fewest
   runs allowed head-to-head **(4)** Fewest runs allowed in all games **(5**) Most
   runs scored head-to-head **(6)** Most runs scored in all games
 * We need to figure out a way to make the first 3 points above happen. If we could
   figure out a way to make all 6 points above work, then I’m sure we wouldn’t have
   to worry much about the rank… ever!
