Unfortunately, this plugin is (April 2025) behind a paywall. This should be removed from the plugin directory!

    Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback. I’d like to clarify that the free JWT Authentication plugin remains completely free and open-source as it has been for nearly 10 years. The plugin currently serves over 50,000 active sites with the exact same functionality it has always provided.

The Pro version we recently launched (https://jwtauth.io) is an optional upgrade that introduces new features never included in the free version, such as token management, refresh tokens, and analytics. These are enhancements many users requested over the years, but they don’t replace or diminish any existing free functionality.

We remain committed to maintaining and supporting the free plugin while offering advanced options for users who need them. The WordPress plugin directory explicitly allows this freemium model (https://developer.wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-org/detailed-plugin-guidelines/#5-trialware-is-not-permitted) as long as the core functionality remains free – which it absolutely does in our case.

Given this clarification, I’d respectfully ask if you might consider updating your review. Ratings significantly impact small developers like us, and we believe we’re providing genuine value to the WordPress community through both our free and premium offerings.

I hope this clarifies the situation. We value all our users, both free and premium.

    Best regards,
    Enrique
