    I have set up simple subscription products with an annual payment, via PayPal. The first payment is being taken, but no recurring payment is set up.

    In the WooCommerce – HF Subscriptions list, the orders are shown as Active, but Via Manual Renewal.

    In WooCommerce – Settings – Checkout, it says “No payment gateways capable of processing automatic subscription payments are enabled.”.

    I am using PayPal Standard, in WooCommerce 3.2.6, Subscriptions for WooCommerce by HF 1.1.1, and WordPress 4.9.1.

    I do not have any PayPal API credentials set. I thought this was only for refunds processing, but is this the problem?

  • Hi John,

    This message “No payment gateways capable of processing automatic subscription payments are enabled.” means that your payment gateways are not supporting recurring billing. Please check with a payment plugin that supports recurring payment.

    Thanks Mark. I was trying to use the minimum number of plugins and had assumed that PayPal Standard would do the job.

    I think I will try the Braintree PayPal plugin as it seems to handle recurring payments.

    Are there any that you recommend, or is that something you would rather not do?

    I need to know which payment plugin works with this! I installed so many and none of them work, including Paypal Standard!

    Anyone find an answer to this? I was on Skype with Mark HF but they keep saying that it works with PayPal and with Stripe. I have clients not getting charged for their 2nd order. The first order does go through. Thanks!

    I never got an answer to which payment gateways work. When the HF Subscriptions plugin download disappeared for a few weeks, I decided it was time to bail out and moved to using WP PayPal plugin. It’s not a neat solution because it’s not integrated in WooCommerce, but at least recurring subscriptions now work for us and our membership secretary no longer glares at me.

    The HF Subscriptions processed the original subscription and then failed. I tried to manually process the new order but it never got to PayPal. Free or not, it needs to at least do what it says it does.

    The Status of my Subscription is active, but the Payment which was due to day was not processed. How do I manually process this month’s subscription and capture the funds from Paypal? This issue arose immediately after your last plugin update? Makes me want to avoid your updates, since it worked fine up until this week.
