Support » Plugin: Quick Event Manager » Paypal payment setup

  • Hi Alan, As a charity we are probably moving from just events which worked very well to being able to charge a basic fee.
I’ve set up all the parameters I can see using as base my working pages
It shows there is a charge on the form, then says register and pay but doesn’t go to paypal, just goes to my confirmation site page.
In settings cost is clicked and entered Cost per person
    Registration, nothing to change??
Payments, ticked Cost per person, PayPal Email Address, currency code, IPN not clicked at the moment
That I think is all I need????
I did click “See the PayPal IPN Integration Guide for more information on how to set up IPN.” But that went to a 404 page?
I did look through IPN page but it talked about non US and migrating its Sandbox environment to the cloud. Which was above my grade!
Hope you can help, many thanks
    Chris

    Hi Chris,

OK there is two reasons that it would not go to PayPal

    1. There is no Paypal address set up ( I assume you have that in settings )

    2. Transfer to payment provider is ticked on the event / settings

    setting -> https://fullworks.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Screenshot-2021-05-16-at-14.54.43.png

    event -> https://fullworks.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/Screenshot-2021-05-16-at-14.57.05-1.png

    3. Some how the computed value is zero ( I can see it is not zero )

You can post links to image sharing to show things ( obscure sensitive information as it will be public )

The Paypal IPN page has moved https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api-basics/notifications/ipn/IPNSetup/ I will add that to the changes

Being a rainy Sunday afternoon I thought I’d add an article on my knowledge-base.

I’m not 100% sure it is the solution to your issue but may help

Thanks Alan, superb service, we have just been for a lovely walk in full sun just occasional very small showers (norfolk).
I’ve checked settings as described with basic paypal (adding IPN later) and all seem ok? Linked pages here

Yes they all look fine. I can’t really say why it is not working on your site based on those settings.

Can you also send me the link to a screenshot of registration form settings and I’ll try and set up the exact same on my test system to see if I can spot what is going wrong.

    Alan
I’ve got a test site, added QEM copied important settings over and that worked.
    Do not understand??

    (@alanfuller)

OK so it works on test for you?

First check Tools>Health check>Info and see if you can spot any significant differences ( e.g. php version ) feel free to cut and paste the health check info of both

    Also you can install https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/
which allows you to disable plugins without impacting frontend users, disable all except QEM to see if it is a plugin conflict ( could be an issue like an optimizer / cache plugin mucking up the javascript )

Thanks Alan, I’ve now ran out of time and won’t be able to do any more until possibly late afternoon tomorrow. But looked at both sites php seems the same.
As you see test one is just a cobbled together test site!!!
I’ll have a go at the plugins later as well.`
    Many thanks

    Hi Alan
Found a few minutes. I couldn’t use health check as it said “We were unable to replace the plugin file required to enable the Troubleshooting” and the BP site was then down, just blank page?
But I deactivated all plug ins manually except QEM and it still didn’t work!
    Restored still the same!
    Thanks for your time
    Chris

    Thread Starter rockingh

    (@rockingh)

In case its useful to you just added event screenshot to the folder. Thanks C

    Thread Starter rockingh

    (@rockingh)

Just a thought, when you click register and pay the screen seems to double flick before going to thankyou page! I’ve tried on firefox, chrome and edge. Is it correct just having a number on cost event page rather than 11 pounds?

    Plugin Author Alan Fuller

    (@alanfuller)

On the event page cost it strips non numbers

    So 11 becomes 11
    £11 becomes 11
    11 pounds each becomes 11

    warning though

    11 pounds for 1 person becomes 111

The ‘flick’ will be the ‘form’ being submitted to PayPal

Now, I don’t think this is the problem, but it might be, your site is not https:// and it may just be that paypal is not liking that, but I have never tested that as I always have https sites – is your second site that works https or http

    Thread Starter rockingh

    (@rockingh)

Cracked it!!!!!! I had a Redirection set to a thankyou page,
“This will redirect visitors to a URL instead of displaying the thank you message.” Redirection URL:etc.
I removed the url and it worked!
Butttt, then I followed it through to payment (albeit for only 3pence) got to paypal login and it wouldnt let me sign in.
Then realised it had gone to sandbox paypal, how do I change that.
    Getting closer. Many thanks C

    Plugin Author Alan Fuller

    (@alanfuller)

At the bottom of the Payments setting is
Use Paypal sandbox (developer use only)

Now if for some reason that appears unticked, then tick it, save the settings and then untick and save the setting ( I think that some times that setting is not initially saved – so let me know if it seems ‘unticked’ at first – so I can add that to the bug list )
