Update: it appears that despite this error, the payment did go through, as I (as donor) got 3 Emails for this transaction: two from PayPal and and one from Seamless Donations.
However, the Emails to the donation recipients didn’t go out. This is how they are configured:

I confirmed that two of these addresses did not receive the notification Email (the first two in the list)

I see you have another post on this, so I’ll check that out. The big flurry of Null IPN notices is a bug in 4.0.16 that I’m working on fixing.

@canfield. No sweat on multiple threads. I do my best to keep up on questions and it’s just a bit easier to track each issue.
As for updating, it depends on how you set things up. WordPress will tell you that you have updates when you visit your dashboard. You can then tap the update button and your plugins will update. Because it’s VERY BAD to have non-updated plugins, I use ManageWP (a paid service) to automatically check all my sites and perform updates. There are other services like that as well.
That’s not a Seamless Donations thing. It’s just that old code in WordPress can be a big security issue, so you should look at for the little red update notice on your Dashboard very regularly. IF you do, Seamless Donations will update, too.
