We are using PayPal IPN for our affiliate tracking. In order for this to work, we need to send extra information to PayPal when a customer is redirected to their payment gateway. We do this by populating the “custom” field. How may we do this with the Woocommerce shopping cart?

Using this hook you can adjust the variables sent to PayPal

https://github.com/woothemes/woocommerce/blob/master/includes/gateways/paypal/includes/class-wc-gateway-paypal-request.php#L63

We use ‘custom’ however so changing it would not be recommended…

The code I referenced is the request sent to paypal with the user. The actual IPN handler is here https://github.com/woothemes/woocommerce/blob/master/includes/gateways/paypal/includes/class-wc-gateway-paypal-ipn-handler.php
