Some of my customers are seeing this PayPal error after completing the payment process, then when they click “Return to Merchant” it cancels their order. No record of the transaction ever makes it to PayPal. I didn’t have this issue before last week, and some order payments are still coming through fine. Once customer had it cancel on him twice, then on the third try it went through. I was able to duplicate the error myself on a test purchase. All plugins are updated and Encrypted Website Payments is turned off in my PayPal settings. I use the WooCommerce cart checkout.

  • Hello,

Since this is a generic error notification, please be sure you are using the same PayPal account that the one connected to your WooCommerce store.

I was checking the PayPal history and it appears there was a disruption Yesterday February 28, 2022:

To check much better at your site setup, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”.

    Best.

I believe it’s resolved now. Turns out my hosting provider hadn’t done a database restore that I thought they had completed last week (there was an issue after moving my site to a new server). Now that the database is restored, things appear to be working better with PayPal. I’ll be able to confirm as more orders come in.
