I did an extensive assessment of IDX plugins before making a choice. While this plugin generally presents okay (although it relies heavily on short code for configuring), the major drawback here is that myRealPage insists on using their own URL for all the search results performed on YOUR WordPress site. Why does this matter? Because you lose the SEO benefits of having the potential to have the searches indexed and credited to your domain. So in effect you are paying myRealPage for the plugin and subscription AND you are giving them free advertising at your own expense and at a direct cost to you. Sound fair?Do your homework and you will find that another leading IDX provider goes out of their way to actually do the opposite and tell you to use your own subdomain for their implementation so that YOUR SITE gets the benefit from the searches. I raised this with myRealPage directly and their response was that promoting their own brand is more important to them. So go in with eyes wide open if you choose to use this plugin. There are better options out there if you want to gain traction with search engines.

  • I am embarking on starting a new website using a WordPress Theme and I started to investigate IDX solutions.

My website today uses MyRealPage IDX plugin. When I saw your post, I had to ask who the other IDX provider is that you reference in your post. Would you be able to share that information with me?

I’m really just interested in developing the best site that I can.

I received an email from Elegant Themes with a link to a blog post they had written regarding real estate websites and how to integrate IDX into a site.

I think it’s quite informative and perhaps the IDX solution you suggest (anon) is discussed in this blog.

I hope to hear from you

    Sam
