  • I am using Patagonia 1.5.1 on a test WP install.
    I have set up a ‘child theme’ folder with the css file:

    Theme Name: testPatagonia
    Theme URI: ****************
    Description: Testing WordPress Child Themes
    Author: ****************
    Author URI: ********************
    Template: patagonia 1.5.1
    Version: 1.0
    @import url("../patagonia 1.5.1/style.css");
    padding: 1px 0px;
    margin: 0;
    background: #ccc;
    background: #749057;

    This does NOT change the styles from the parent.

    I have no trouble getting the styles I want working by editing the parent styles.css, but i am really hoping to create a ‘child theme’ for all the changes I want and need to make.
    This will include (i hope) being able to put copies of the other template.php files into this folder.

    I have followed the directions for this from the codex as well as several other websites.. I just don’t understand why it isn’t working??

    any help?

    I don’t know about your parent theme, but I would hope it’s folder is not patagonia 1.5.1, which you have listed as the template.

    More than likely, that should just be patagonia. Check your parent theme’s directory name to be sure.

    Actually, patagonia 1.5.1 is how the folder directory is listed.
    I am pulling the parent css to the child theme directory..
    so I know that can be done.
    But the changes i am making in child theme testPatagonia are not taking.

    And why would you say

    but I would hope it’s folder is not patagonia 1.5.1,

    Patagonia 1.5.1 folder works just fine. Is there a reason to elimiate the numbers?

    Wow — a rock start helping me !!

    btw this is the theme:

    The theme is packaged as Unzipping this will give you the patagonia.1.5.1 folder. This is not the folder that should be uploaded.

    Within it is another folder simply named patagonia. This is the theme folder that should be installed and used.

    Your directory probably looks like this:

    While this will work in most situations, I imagine it’ll break parent/child theme relationships.

    It should look like:

    Hope that helps.
