Pasting Content to Maintain Correct Encoding

  • Pasting text to posts from emails, Word and other word processors that may have different encoding than WordPress is set for would seem to post with the source’s encoding scheme.

Does anyone know if this is the case?

If so, does anyone know if there is a (relatively) easy way to change encoding to the WP scheme before copying and pasting?

Also, is there a way to re-encode posts once they’ve been pasted?

  • WordPress doesn’t do anything to the content you actually input, assuming the format it uses is the one you want. In other words, if you paste text that’s encoded with a word processor’s symbols and whatnot, it remains that way.

The simplest method of managing copy & paste efforts from other programs is to use an intermediary tool such as a standard text editor. In Windows Notepad would do here.
