 * Hi there,
I can’t use a password to protect a page without the error 404 coming
up even when I use the correct password. It seems to be something to do with
some coding somewhere? Functions php perhaps? Any advice? Other postings come
up with explanations I cannot understand. It seems to be a common problem. It
first occured when i added a 2nd password protected page (a child of a parent
   page). Thanks, Neil

 * Try re-setting the permalinks to default, and then setting them back to your
   customization.

 * Is there an easy way to re-set the permalinks to default, and then setting them
   back to my customization?
Where does one do this? Dashboard? Thanks v much,
   Neil

 * I’ve re-set the permalinks but no change. It seems that the ‘page protection’
is now not a feature of my site… 🙁

 * I’ve now also deleted the whole page, recreated it all again… Still the password
protection creates Error404 after the correct password is typed!
    Any help? Neil

 * Have you discussed the issue with your hosting provider?

 * I’ll try that, but the Forums suggest a WordPress solution using editing in various.
   php files.

 * What forums where? Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Twelve
theme with **all** plugins deactivated and using the default permalink structure?
