# password/host/? issue

 * we switched servers – took a backup of our site (which had wordpress installed)
   and now we’re having problems getting it working.
 * i didn’t set it up before but i am this time.
 * i modified the wp-config.php file but i guess i’m doing it wrong because nothing
   is working.
 * i have the right database name. i looked up the user and i have the right user
   name. i have the password and md5 hash for the password and i’ve tried both. 
   i don’t know which to use, but it’s one or the other. but besides that, i don’t
   know if i have the right host. how do i check that? i’m assuming it must not 
   be right because that’s the only thing i can imagine it to be.
 * when i do [http://www.example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php](http://www.example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php)
   it doesn’t work. when i do [http://www.example.com/blog](http://www.example.com/blog)
   it doesn’t work, please help me. i have no idea what i’m doing wrong but it’s
   obviously something huge.

 * Your config file should have the database name (if you are using a Cpanel enabled
   site, remember the user name is something like siteusername_databasename), database
   user (same deal, siteusername_dbusername), and the database password, not md5
   hash).
 * Make sure you uploaded the files to correct directory (public html?) not www).
 * Did the domain name change?

   the message that explorer gives you?
 * How is your php configured (which version and do you use FAST CGI?) and which
   version of WordPress do you use?
