 * I have been using wp all afternoon and evening with my PW and UN. When I had 
   dinner and came back to get on I could not get logged in with same. My email,
   as registered, said something like “user not found”.
    I went to php my admin 
   and changed my pw and saw that my email and un were correct there. I deleted 
   the series of letters and numbers, typed in my new PW and selected MD5 from dropdown
   menu. Went back to log in and nothing. I am stumped. I just started getting reposts
   of my topics and was getting up a head of steam when this happened. It’s 4:00
   AM and I have been up all night trying to resolve this. Been using WP for about
   a month. Two blogs. Love the software!
 * I may have missed a save button after making these changes. Not sure, I’m frazzled
   this AM.
 * I changed nothing before this happened. Out of the blue. I am locked out of my

 * You did a great job of explaining what you did. I had to read your post a couple
   of times, but I think I understand.
 * In WordPress we have the files and the database. The files and the database are
   separate. The database has a username and password and the WordPress file system(
   called the dashboard) also has a username and password.
 * PHPmyAdmin is where you change your database password.
 * One way to fix this problem:
 * Edit your wp-config file with your newly changed database password.
 * When you try to log on to the dashboard from the wp-admin screen you will see
   a little question underneath the boxes that says “Lost your password? Click that
   and WordPress will send you an email that will allow you to change your password
   for your dashboard.
 * Hopefully this helps and you can get some sleep!

 * This icon that was generated fits me to a T. If you got my email return to you
   then you have this already but I will cover my bases.
 * The log in will not accept my password or username. “Forgot my password” will
   not recognize my email address that I placed in my admin profile. I tried this
   several times. If I register as a new user that will do me no good as to admin.
   Tis came out of the blue. At first I would log in with un and pass and get to
   the “site admin” link. When clicked I was sent back to log in. After a period
   of trying that option quit also. Didi not mention this in the first support post.
   May be important for your understanding of the problem though.
 * Thanks for the quick response. I had just posted two articles and a repost on
   the blog so I am good for a couple days. I can always use text edit on my Mac
   and copy/paste while this issue is resolving. TCrowe

 * I’m not sure but I think this is happening because you went into PHPMyAdmin and
   disconnected the database by changing the password.
 * Your dashboard/admin username and password are stored in the database.
 * Did you try editing your wp-config file yet as I instructed in the first post?
 * This might restore the correct email again.

 * I believe that codex have a solution for changing username password using various
   method like mailer, and MySQL CLI(you may use SQL query window phpMyAdmin for

 * I just dumped the blog and started over all the wiser. I saved most of it with
   several copy/pastes and all is good. Thanks for the help!
