    Hi all o/

I am trying to figure out why I can’t login trough my sites admin panel while I can actually login trough my wordpress.com login credentials which are basically the same.

So I tried to recover the one of my own site mygamexp.net and while I am allowed to request it the mail is never being received.

on top of that I never logged in once after creating the wordpress.com account and always went straight in trough my own website, recently I had to reinstall my chrome browser because there was something amiss which was not related to my website.

anyway because I want to make sure it wasn’t related to any former browser history or what so ever I did the following.

1: I Cleared out my caches
2: I tried various other browsers like EDGE, Firefox and Opera

I also tried to recover both accounts Worldpress.com works / and the one trough mygamexp.net doesn’t.

I am out of ideas now and I would like to ask for some assistance

btw i don’t know what version I am on right now because I can’t enter my own admin panel right now and the one from wordpress.com is not showing me any information about the installed version on my server.

But if I am correct it should be updated to 4.4.2

    Thanks In advance

    Kevin.

The email can fail to send for a variety of reasons, usually because the hosting provider has disabled PHP’s mail() function on your server.

This method will allow you to change the password directly in the database: https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin

You’ll find phpMyAdmin in your hosting account’s control panel.

Once you’re in, install and activate https://wordpress.org/plugins/postman-smtp/ which will configure WordPress to use your email’s outgoing server instead of PHP’s mail() function.

this looks fairly advanced, a friend of mine set this all up for me and I see I need to fiddle within the database so I personally am not going to touch that.

I have just a basic understanding for now and as long if that’s the case =s the problem is that he is not reachable atm so he can’t assist me 🙁

o my I really need to learn this :s and I don’t wanna mess it up :p

The problem is that I don’t even know what the above entirely means, i only had to reinstall my browser and poof 🙁

Sadly, if your hosting provider has disabled PHP’s mail() function, which it sounds like they have, the only ways in are the much more advanced methods detailed at https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password with the one I listed earlier https://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin being the most precise as you change the password directly in the database.

If there were any easier way, I’d have let you know first, unfortunately there isn’t. 🙁

I understand and I thank you for the assistance, it is not that I do not appreciate the effort to reach out and help.

I am merely scared to mess it all up and that I have to start all over again so I rather wait until I can reach out to someone like my friend to solve it, however, its already been 3 days and in the meanwhile I don’t have proper access to my admin panel so in the end I may be forced to do it myself :s

    decisions, decisions :p

    best of regards

    Kevin
