Password reset in new user message

Hi,

I created two notifications:
– A welcome message for registered new users
– A password reset message for users who forgot their password.

The ‘reset password’ shortcode works like a charm in the second notification, but shows only the shortcode (not the link) in the notification for new registered users.

How can I fix this? I assumed people who I register manually should receive the welcome mail with a password reset, because WP does not send the password by mail anymore.

Hi @patrickdeboer,
Thanks for your message.

You can do this but you’ll need to use the ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification instead as this is the only other one that allows use of the password reset URL shortcode within WordPress.

Hi @patrickdeboer,
Ah, I think you’re using the wrong shortcode.

All shortcodes for that notification can be found here: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/notifications/shortcodes/?notification=new-user

You need to use [password_url] instead of [password_reset_link].

Awesome, thanks! I indeed used the wrong shortcode, did not realize it was a different one in a different message. You are not to blame, the information on the website is correct, I simply did not read it correctly.
