I have set this page to be password protected with a password of ‘password’: http://clearpointdebtrelief.com/?page_id=49

When you enter ‘password’, it just reloads the page and gives the same password screen. I have tried disabling all of my plugins and I still get the same problem.

    What can I do?

    Thanks!

I did try temporarily connecting to a fresh database and the password protection worked. When I imported all of the tables into that database from the current site, it broke again.

How can I move the content to a new database easily? Or do you have another suggestion as to how to proceed?

But, why would it work on http://www.elevatewebdesigns.com/blog/?page_id=49

and not when I move it on the same server? Strange.

It definitely sounds as if you have a db problem. Have you tried repairing the db?

You could export the content via Tools/Export, then switch to the fresh db and import the content. However, you would still need to re-upload your images.

How do I repair the db?

If that doesn’t work, I will try importing the content via your suggestion.

You need to use a database management tool like PhpMyAdmin.

Is there a simple option to repair db in PhpMyAdmin?

First, I tried repairing the db using PhpMyAdmin and that didn’t work.

Then, I switched to a fresh db and imported the content. Everything is working fine now. I had to recreate a few things, but it works!

NOTE: You should use two different browsers when testing the password protection. This way you can be logged into admin on one and it won’t affect your password protected page on the other.

    Thanks for your help!

I did all the above and still password protection isn’t working.
The password form doesn’t even display.
    Have WordPress 3.2.0

So tried with new db – deactivated plugins – changed theme

    Nothing

    Any more ideas?
