    Hello Everybody,

    A page is password protected…

If I remove the Woocommerce shop, the password is asked for, but as soon as I put the shop on this page, the password prompt doesn’t appear…

    This page works OK:
    https://nl.shoppingctrl.com/test/

    password is 123

    This doesn’t:
    https://nl.shoppingctrl.com/ctrlshop/

same password 123 (but not prompted)

if I swap the shop from one page to the other, the problem is also swapped…

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @shoppingctrl

WooCommerce overrides it when you set a password on the shop page and you will need to use a plugin to password protect the shop page.

I had a look and found this one that can do what you need – https://barn2.co.uk/how-to-password-protect-a-woocommerce-shop/

    Hey @etiennep,

    Thanks for your help!

But I am looking for an ‘open source’-solution; I am not even sure at this point that our shop will sell a lot, if anything 🙂

    Too early to tell…

On the other hand, why should Woo mess with basic functions of WP ?

As far as I’m aware, it’s because WooCommerce needs the shop permalink for the other parts of WooCommerce to work.

As for an open-source solution, the only other alternative I can think of would be to get in touch with a web developer to develop that for you. There’s a difference between open-source and free though 🙂

    Hi RK,

it is common to have a shop with a password, f.i. for dealer / wholesale prices…

And yes not all open source is for free, but in the open source community, a lot of goodwill and helpfulness is a given 😉
