Password Protect not allowing access to category archives

Hi There,

I’ve activated Password Protect on my site, but even after logging in it doesn’t allow access to category archives. e.g. When trying to visit http://www.mydomain.com/category/essays it redirects to: http://www.mydomain.com/?password-protected=login&redirect_to=http%3A%2F%mydomain.com.%2Fcategory%2Fessays%2F

Why is this and what can I do about it?
