password for user account 'root' not valid – web platform 4.6 installation

  • hi there 🙂

I’m getting an error message ‘the specified password for user account ‘root’ is not valid, or failed to connect to database server’ when I try to install wordpress using microsoft web platform 4.6 on my windows vista SP2 laptop. Any ideas on how to fix this please?

you should never use the root mysql account to manage your wordpress installs

    make a database
    make a user account
apply permissions for that database to that user account

I would suggest you use XAMPP for windows
    and
Download MySql Workbench from the MySql website to manage your databases
