# Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING – HELP!

 * I have been trying to upload and re-upload wordpress to my site through ftp and
   ALWAYS get this message:
 * Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/daniell1/public_html/
   blog/wordpress/wp-config.php on line 45
 * I’ve followed all of the directions stated on the “how to install” guide several
   times and still can’t even get to the actual installation step. Does anyone know
   where I went wrong?

 * you likely made an error with the auth keys – an illegal character or space or
   something
 * why not copy over a new wp-config.php and don’t mess with the auth keys until
   you get set up – you can add them later if needed
