  • [Topic line modified – an incomplete error message is useless]

I keep getting this error message and can’t see why or how to fix it – any advice?

  • What is the full message? Topic lines are not good for that.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /homepages/38/d365820496/htdocs/wp-includes/user.php on line 381

line 381 reads: * Prepare the query variables
    no ‘.’ to be seen.

    Hope you can help.

Ok so I’ve removed everything and started again, database, wordpress, the lot – and keep getting the same message. I really need some help please.

Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Where do i find the .htaccess files?

In your root WordPress folder. If you are using an FTP client, ensure that it is configured to show all files as .htaccess files are often hidden by default.

    I’m using dreamweaver
