Support » Fixing WordPress » 'Parse error: syntax error …' Site doesn't work no more.

  • Hi,

I tried to put a Facebook Like Box on to my website, but it didn’t work out as I hoped to (I got two boxes of which one was a default design en the other one was the good one, but it was in the wrong position, all the way down on the left. Maybe you can help me with this too?). I wanted to undo it, but now I get this every time I click somewhere, and also when I just try to open my website:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/sophie/domains/sophieholterman.nl/public_html/wp-content/themes/birdsite/functions.php on line 3

Well, it tells that there’s a ‘<‘ somewhere wrong in functions.php, but I can’t go there to check, because I get this message all the time. What can I do? I’m in big panic now, because my website is inaccesible! Please help me! 🙁

    My website: http://www.sophieholterman.nl

  • Use FTP or a ‘File Manager’ from your hosting service to edit the functions.php file in your theme folder.

If you don’t know how to edit it, put the code into a pastebin and post a link to it here.

Well, I’m learning fast but this is still too complicated for me, haha.
Glad you’re here to help. I pasted the whole code into my pastebin.

Thanks in advance and, if this is solved, could you help me with the Facebook Like Box too? If that’s too much trouble, it doesn’t matter, I can do without, but people were asking for it 😉
