Parse error: syntax error – can't access my site at all

  • I tried to add new php script into the Twenty Eleven: Theme Functions and broke the site.

When I try to bring up the admin sign in screen or call up my web-site:

I can’t see my site or get the log in page – this is the message I get:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/nrgfit/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 2

I’ve already tried logging back into my host to re-upload the theme, but I don’t understand really how to do that. I am completely new to all this!

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.
    – if that does not resolve the issue, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
