So I am extremely new to WordPress. I copy and pasted a code into my themes and this comes up on EVERY page:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/reedfran/public_html/wp-content/themes/Darknight/functions.php on line 5

I tried logging in via an FTP client to fix the error. I was sure I was using the correct information to log in tho I can’t be sure because I haven’t had to do this before this error. So lost. Help please!

Try re-uploading a fresh copy of your chosen theme via FTP.

That’s the issue. I can’t log into my site even through FTP

A parse error in your theme will not affect your FTP access.

I can’t log into my FTP and I’m almost positive I have the correct information to log in.

And I don’t understand why it has even overtaken my wp-admin page/every page on my website. So not sure what the next step to take is here.

Check your FTP login details with your host. HTTP and FTP are completely separate, so an error on one will not affect the other. And despite the popular misconception that themes only affect the front-end display of a site, they do also impact on the back-end. Especially in the case of a syntax error.

    Hello,
I need help, I did something to my website and now I cant access wp-admin or the website. I get this error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘}’ in /home/thecozyp/public_html/wp-content/themes/superstore_pets/functions.php on line 41

I need help!! I want to cry!!! This is so difficult. I feel lost and alone.

    Can anyone help me??
