Delete the file ‘wp-db.php’ and reupload a new one.
It is probably a file transfer error, but post back if it persists.

Don’t overwrite the old file, delete it first.

that solved but now i get

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/rookie20/public_html/tac/wordpress/wp-includes/functions.php on line 236

a new load does not fix it.

Looks like you are having transfer errors.
How exactly are you uploading ?

I would delete everything inside the /wp-includes directory and then re-upload.

i am using a mac and i upload with cute ftp. should i try something else? i will try to replace my files

i had my sister upload the files from her windows computer and ev everything worked fine. must have been an issue with either mac or my cute http://ftp... anyway all is good now.

    thanks for the help
